♦ Recently the gang calling its self La Resistance led by GeoRene Jones and Todd Paris said they were on the “cusp” of endorsing candidates for the County Commission. They planned to interview candidates and endorse two of them along with the one they have already picked (Klusman). Part of the interview was to get a commitment for the two chosen candidates to actually accept the endorsement if it is offered. Hopefully the candidates, if they are smart, will also require the La Resistance gang to give a permanent endorsement lasting thru the November elections. Why? It is widely known that if Coltrain and Miller get the necessary signatures to be put on the ballot, the two candidates picked from the interviews will be thrown under the bus in favor of Coltrain and Miller. Coltrain has the signatures required and Miller is not yet there. He was last seen desperately annoying people walking by to get signatures. And guess what? The little gang has not endorsed any of the candidates they interviewed. Don’t expect them to give the endorsements now that the two they really wanted when both Coltrain and Miller get their quota for the fall ballot. Chris Cohen is also seeking signatures to run unaffiliated. Running unaffiliated against Republicans and even Democrats has little chance of success.
You see, the La Resistance gang was simply attempting to use any foolish candidates that agreed to accept the endorsement ONLY in the event of the failure of Coltrain and Miller to get ballot qualified. Hopefully the four candidates that were interviewed realized they were only playing second fiddle to Coltrain and Miller. Perhaps the candidates all refused the conditions set by the little gang. Perhaps that is why no endorsements have been made to date. It is, however, more likely that since it is now known that Coltrain and Miller will qualify, the endorsements that were on the “cusp” will be saved for them.
All voters in the county and towns need to understand what this election is all about. The real issue is who will control the County Commission. The little group Downtown Salisbury ONLY, including La Resistance, are pushing to get candidates elected that will do their bidding. The candidates they are pushing hard are Judy Klusman, Raymond Coltrain and Gene Miller. If these three end up being elected, they will be servants of downtown Salisbury and the La Resistance gang. They will pay little attention to the other towns and rural county residents. You can certainly expect county taxes to skyrocket as they approve costly projects. The tax increases will make our county less competitve for new companies who could bring more jobs. Look how Downtown Salisbury ONLY ruined pitiful Salisbury, turning it into a vacancy strewn ruins of crime, poverty, and poor education.
If you want Commissioners who will serve ALL towns and rural county residents, consider voting for Jim Sides and Joe Coladarci. They, along with Craig Pierce and Mike Caskey will keep our Commission in strong conservative hands. Yes, there are six other Republicans on the primary ballot, but it is far less certain where their loyalties lie. Your vote for Jim Sides and Joe Coladarci will be a vote to keep our taxes low, and keep a County Commission that does not favor special interests like Downtown Salisbury ONLY, but seeks to treat all towns and rural residents fairly.
