Jonathan Morris, Woodleaf, NC

♦Rep. Thom Tillis called in conservative Larry Pittman and dressed him down for criticizing his Highness on conservative principles.  Then he called in Robert Brawley, took away his chairmanship on the finance committee, and left him with no committee leadership responsibilities for criticizing his Highness.  Thom Tillis worked behind the scenes to create a House Subcommittee on De-Annexation, in order to stymie the various de-annexation bills that were pending, which  the self-absorbed NC League of Municipalities nudged him to do, in order to prevent justice from seeing the light of day.  This sickens me and many citizens forcibly annexed by the thug-pig of Rowan County: Salisbury.

Thom Tillis apparently doesn’t give a damn about all those people forced to dwell under the under the iron heel of the most narcissistic and corrupt city in North Carolina.  People in Salisbury wake up and take a whiff of the putrid stench in your dying burg.  Know what it is to be forcibly annexed by the thug of the county who tries to pass itself off as historic and progressive when it’s neither.  Being forcibly annexed by Salisbury means these people who never wanted “in” were forced to pay around $5,000 bucks to run a water and sewer lines to the curb, pay Salisbury’s exorbitant city taxes, fees, utility bills, and have all their existing services duplicated by the city.  They get Salisbury’s nuisance city ordinances tacked on to their lives.

Oh, the forcibly annexed have the right to be plopped in the city cemetery when their tax slavery draws to a close.  I’m sure most would not care to wind up in Salisbury’s “Potter’s field.”  Most don’t want any part of Salisbury and don’t even drive through Salisbury’s deteriorating and crime-ridden streets.  The forcibly annexed resent becoming tax food for the thug of the county who misspends the money to keep their failure Fibrant barely breathing and other “build it and they will come” flops.  Any Speaker of the House who backs the self-absorbed NC League of Municipalities is an enemy of the people.  Thom Tillis you best reexamine some of your alliances or buddy the only way you’ll get to Washington is in the backseat of a Greyhound as a tourist and not on the citizen’s dime.  Ain’t so sure I want to send a known back roomer to the Nations Capital.

It was Tillis’s rival, Senator Phil Berger, who worked to permit a  Rowan Airport De-Annexation bill to fly through his chamber.  The heroic actions of Senator Andrew Brock and Phil Berger were what pushed the  local De-Annexation bill to the NC House.  Unfortunately, that circumvention upset both Speaker Tillis and ole Harry Warren, who probably is wishing he thought twice, before  trashing Andrew Brock in the local propaganda rag for not ‘consulting’ him on the local Senate bill concerning school construction and maintenance.   Harry, we love you, but for a rainy-day conservative to take  this kind of pot-shot at the most tried and true conservative among the State delegation from our region, you are showing preferential treatment of our so-called school board, as well as the knuckleheads on city council.  Please don’t take it wrong when I admonish you to at least, “Tone it down” a bit.

I already would prefer to cast my vote for a known Democrat in office, such as Kay Hagan, against Thom Tillis, who is nothing more than a self-promoting political climber.  That didn’t work for Scott Keadle last year, and it won’t work for Thom Tillis next year.  And to Harry Warren, remember who got you elected to the position of public trust you hold.  For goodness sake, please think twice before playing footsy with Salisbury City’s City Council or the Public School Board that has mismanaged our public school system to the sub mediocre ranking of 113th out of 115 public school systems in the State. A horrendous NC ABC Report Card.  It’s not very ‘becoming’ for an assumed Conservative to do.  And we don’t just wait until a few months  before re-election time to watch your actions, Sir.

Or am I alone in expecting conservatives to stop all the ’cross-dressing’ to appease the city’s alleged progressives?   I thank God that I have no committee leadership position to lose for challenging his Highness, or  stepping on anyone else’s feet.
