♦ Let’s face it Salisbury no longer needs to protect its historic character. That’s over with. All the ridiculous pretention and historic charm nonsense is finito. Salisbury, N.C. is known throughout the state and across the nation for it’s “soaring poverty” and hardcase character. Time for Salisbury to own their true nature and move on to more profitable enterprises in keeping with their national branding: SALISBURY, N.C: FIGHTING FOR FIX!
Look when anyone thinks about Salisbury anymore they picture:
• Black tar heroin
• Shootouts in the West End
• Break-ins all over
• For sale signs and moving vans.
• Crack hotties on Long Street
• Vacant buildings and abandoned houses galore
• Gangs
No need for Salisbury to thwart economic progress anymore with the historic character excuse. Bring back motorcycle parties at the fairgrounds, a convention center to house tough man contests, Extreme Lady wrestling, cruising–all the stuff that Salisbury cracked down on.
Now Salisbury can go for it! Nothing holding them back.
