♦ A short-lived congratulations to Judy Klusman, Jim Greene, and Greg Edds who gained the right to face a crowded field of Democrats: Leda Belk and Rick Locklear and unaffiliateds: Raymond Coltrain, Gene Miller, and Chris Cohen (provided Chris gains the required signatures).
At this time I’m not quite sure of who I will support in the fall election. Do I choose a character-flawed threesome most likely to send Salisbury and the county hurtling deeper and faster into their dystopia or do I pick more honest yeomen who might act with some decency in turning the taxpayers upside down and shaking them to pay for Downtown Salisbury ONLY’s expensive and frivolous projects to nowhere. Likely within the next few days or so I will decide on who I will support. Yo–I might be picking some Democrats and unaffiliateds…maybe.
We have challenges galore here and so far I am not witnessing any real long-term fixes being put forward by the current crop of campaigners. I’m thinking now in terms of who will be the least damaging to our county and city.
I regret that Jim Sides an honest, extremely hardworking, and fiscally responsible commissioner did not return to office. Jim is not exactly anyone’s first pick for the diplomatic corps and appears to have a major auto-immune reaction to incentives which undoubtedly hurt him in a close election. I figure unbridled honesty is far better than unbridled dishonesty.
Disappointed somewhat that Joe Coladarci didn’t get many votes, but not surprised. He ran a shoe-string campaign with mild backing and had to develop his social graces as he traveled the campaign trail.
