♦ For your amusement we are sharing the “Complete Streets” envisioning of Downtown Salisbury’s “Square” with humans present (An area where pedestrians seldom venture). We think the photo-artist’s rendering is quite attractive although we realize the “Complete Streets” plans for traffic calming, with medians and bike lanes on East Innes, has zero utility and will create unimaginable traffic congestion and harm businesses on East Innes by blocking easy access to them. Welcome to Salisbury!
Our city’s visionaries own a lengthy history of failed objectives: The walk-down “needle park” by the East Innes Railroad Bridge, the Fibrant Debacle, the purchase of the Empire Bat-tel (a Former flophouse not open to the public since 1963), EZ Street, and oh lest we forget the half empty and weed stricken Taj Mahal on MLK.
Who really scores on these Municipal projects? Certainly not our citizens. And now we are witnessing the utter financial ruin of the Bury.
