Acknowledge how people lack respect and strongly voice it when elected officials are caught in “sting operations” or people learn their elected officials hid the truth. Political history is filled with these unpleasant moments.
Over the coming weeks and months those who are not forthcoming in local government will face increasing exposure. There will be a turning about in public opinion as more and more employees step out and reveal what is being hidden here.
It’s never too late for anyone to do the “right thing” and confess the truth. A deceived and endangered public and harmed employees can be harsh and unforgiving as their anger mounts. That is part of human nature as is greed, untruth, and slack diligence.
