♦ Planned for Monday’s 5 p.m. June 16th County Commissioners meeting at the County Administration Building, 130 W. Innes St., Salisbury, N.C. is a discussion about sending the Local Government Commission (LGC) a new loan application proposed for $6.5 million including the $3.9 million dollars to cover reimbursing the general fund and West End Plaza renovations and an additional $2.7 million dollars for four other county projects.  These additional projects include funds for a Rowan-Cabarrus Community College HVAC ($1.9 million), improvements for the county animal shelter (150,000), and 10 T-hangers at the Rowan County Airport ($650,000). The recent LGC application was yanked by the commissioners in order to save additional application fee costs.  Each LGC Application costs $100,000 so combining 4 potential applications into one bundle is cost effective.

Improvements in the county animal shelter will include a new veterinary surgical facility where adoptive animals can be spayed and neutered and moving the shelter toward becoming a “no-kill” facility.

West End Plaza projects include a new Veteran Service Office and the up-fitting of West End Plaza Space for the coming Board of Elections move.

Included in this discussion of the new LGC application is the possibility of a 3/4 cent tax increase.
