♦ According to Spencer Police sources murder suspect Rodney Roberto Wallace was apprehended in Wrightsville Beach, N.C near Wilmington, N.C.
Many will rest easy in Spencer and Salisbury, N.C. tonight with his capture.
Mr. Wallace, 47, was sought by authorities for the murder of ex-wife Toney Ann Johnson whose body was found at 705 4th Street yesterday morning in Spencer, N.C.
About 1:50 p.m. today Rodney Roberto Wallace was captured by Wrightsville Beach police after a disturbance in a park was called in on a 911 dispatch. Police quickly arrived to see a woman frantically screaming she had a killer in her car. When Mr. Wallace was located, he gave no resistance. Very shortly the police on the scene discovered Mr. Wallace’s identity and the murder warrants for his arrest. The suspect was promptly handcuffed and secured in the police car. At no time did the suspect offer any resistance. He was brought to the New Hanover County Jail and will later be returned to Rowan County to face murder charges.
Mr. Wallace’s companion was not taken into custody or charged. It was found his female companion knew nothing of Wallace’s charges other than a friend texted her that her companion Wallace had allegedly killed his ex-wife. Wallace’s daughter is said to be living in the Wrightsville Beach area.
