♦ According to the Salisbury Post, Elaney Hasselmann who “resigned” her Public Information Director’s post received a whopping $32,746 severance package. Who gets severance packages when they quit on the spot? Nobody anywhere except in Salisbury’s city hall.
And former city manager Doug Paris who was “mutually terminated” grabbed a severance package totaling $205, 288 going out the door!
Why did City Council agree to such incredibly high terms? There’s something incredibly wrong here especially in the light that quite a few city employees, during Paris’s reign, were given wrongful terminations and got nothing from the city including vacation money owed them.
City council has plenty of explaining to do. Many downtown are starting to wonder if some improper leverage was employed in springing these large severance packages.
Something isn’t right.
