♦ If most people read Mac Butner’s uppercase Facebook quotes they would be bewildered by his continued fight to maintain his board chairmanship on the Rowan County Housing Authority. How do you explain Mac? On one hand he sincerely championed Thomas Sowell, Dr. Ben Carson for President, Bill Cosby, and Thelma Lucky of “Downhome Cooking” fame. On the other he posts uppercase outbursts on Facebook that would make Donald Sterling pale.
Does Mac suffer from some rare form of exotic uppercase Archie Bunker Tourettes? Or is he given to compartmentalizing his Facebook discriminatory remarks–putting them in a mental lead-lined box out of awareness? Whatever the explanation is, it isn’t working in other people’s worlds.
Whatever is happening with Mac, he’s not going to be on that board past September. You simply can’t make those kinds of discriminatory remarks on Facebook and hold a critical position in public housing.
