♦ A cover story appears on the front page of the July print version of the Carolina Journal: “Salisbury Sewer Fees Prop Up Broadband” by Barry Smith. Like others probing into the Fibrant, Mr. Smith’s phone calls and emails went unreturned by the city.
Fibrant turned no corner and is nowhere remotely close to breaking even. It operates at a major loss, has drained our city’s ability to provide credible city services, and earned Moody’s downgrading of their bond rating.
Those on city council who continue to create phantasies about Fibrant’s success should do us all a favor and consider resigning. Many were shocked by city council’s cover-up of the city manager’s “mutual termination” and “Golden Parachute”. Fibrant is a debacle and the city is running on fumes as a result. Perhaps it is time to unload Fibrant in exchange for some “corporate welfare”. We can certainly do better with management living and working closer to Salisbury.
Barry Smith’s assessment of the Moody’s downgrading of Salisbury’s bonds: “Salisbury Sewer Fees Prop Up Broadband” can be found here (2nd story from the top of the page):
