Press Release
♦ For the past two weeks, state representative Alma Adams has failed to respond to 12th District Congressional candidate Vince Coakley’s request to schedule and conduct a series of public debates in each county of the district they hope to represent in the 114th US Congress. Coakley, a staunch conservative who places constitutional principles above party politics, had extended his formal invitation to debate Mrs. Adams via personal letter on July 17th (copy attached), but to date has received neither a reply nor a simple acknowledgement from the Adams campaign.
In an effort to deliver his campaign message to all constituents throughout the District, Mr. Coakley is today announcing a special series of evening Town Hall Meetings to be scheduled in each county comprising District 12. These gatherings will provide a much-needed opportunity for key community leaders, local businesses and interested citizens to examine Vince Coakley’s impeccable credentials and to hear his exciting ideas to transform the 12th District by rebuilding its neigborhoods, improving public education, restoring family values and reducing the current federal tax and regulatory burden.
The complete schedule for these important public forums will be announced within the coming week, and it is expected that they will be conducted at regular intervals throughout the months of September and October. The voters of District 12 deserve the opportunity to meet, to hear from and to ask questions of anyone seeking to be their future Congressional representative, and Vince Coakley fully intends to deliver on that fundamentally important campaign obligation.
Vince Coakley is a former broadcast journalist, respected television news anchor and well-known radio host in the Charlotte area. His greatest passion is working for God’s greater glory and doing so in partnership with faith community leaders to help people lead more rewarding and spiritually-uplifting lives in the Body of Christ. Vince and his wife Debbie live in Charlotte, have been married for 22 years and are the proud and loving parents of four fine children ages 9 to 17.

The Honorable Alma S. Adams
NC House District 58 Representative
1600 East Wendover Avenue, Suite T
Greensboro, NC 27405
Dear Rep. Adams:
This letter is to invite you to join me in scheduling and conducting a series of public debates across the six counties of North Carolina’s 12th Congressional District. I firmly believe that voters and community leaders from throughout our district deserve the opportunity to hear from each of us regarding the major political, environmental and socio-economic issues not only affecting our country today, but also shaping our children’s world for years to come.
In order to assure equal access and encourage maximum participation from all constituents within District 12, I’m proposing that we conduct at least one such debate in each of the six counties we both aspire to represent in Washington. I’m convinced there is nothing more honest, more insightful and more truly democratic than the time-honored American tradition of allowing prospective voters to learn about our respective priorities and political leanings, and to hear our views on how best to serve this district’s vital interests in the US Congress.
I’m confident that you understand the value and importance of sharing our thoughts by taking our campaign messages directly to the people, and trust you will also benefit as you become better known to voters from communities outside your native Guilford County. I shall look forward to receiving your formal acceptance of my invitation to join this initiative to facilitate public discussion of key issues and promote greater voter awareness throughout District 12.
Sincerely and respectfully,
Vince Coakley
