♦ Billy Floyd Pless,61, a wheelchair bound petty criminal, was “detained” briefly in the Rowan County Detention Center Monday for making a threatening phone call in Spencer, N.C. Out now on a $1000 dollar bond, Pless owns a lengthy, some say off the charts, criminal record gained mostly on the streets of Salisbury and Spencer North Carolina.
Pless’s criminal record started in 1982 when he was charged with assault with a deadly weapon. In 1985 he was charged with assault on a female and was charged again in 1986 for assault on a female.
In 1992 Pless was charged with trespassing, in 1996 he received a charge of communicating threats, and in 1997 and 2002 he was charged with separate incidents of disorderly conduct.
In 2003 Pless was charged with second degree trespassing and habitual misdemeanor assault.
Two more disorderly conduct charges in 2008 and 2009 followed by harassing phone calls in 2012, and assault and battery in 2013.
Pless often seen riding his motorized wheelchair around Salisbury and Spencer, spoke during public comment at a Spencer Town Board meeting in April where he pleaded for the police to stop following him. Pless claimed he was arrested 132 times since 1982 and was the subject of police harassment.
