♦ This evening noticed a blog on Facebook concerned with reading and literacy: “Reading with Dr. Avis”. Reading and literacy is an extremely important topic that our Rowan-Salisbury Schools struggle with especially in the city of Salisbury. The writer of “Reading with Dr. Avis” is Dr. Avis Williams from Salisbury, an educator and recent author, who is involved in the future afterschool literacy program at the West End Plaza: “Tsunami Literacy Development Program”.
Dr. Avis’s blog contains numerous valuable insights into literacy and tips on how to get struggling young readers more engaged in reading. I highly recommend this blog written by someone on the frontlines of literacy.
