♦ Monday at about 7:30 p.m. Kimberly Regina Allen of the Lakewood Apartments in Salisbury, N.C., crossed the street by the intersection of Statesville Blvd. and Lash Drive and was struck by a white station wagon. Ms. Allen died after being transported to Novant Rowan Medical Center.
According to police sources, the victim walked out in front of the vehicle and was impacted to the extent she was airborne and landed several yards away on Statesville Blvd. Persons reported hearing a loud thud and the screech of brakes.
The victim bled heavily and appeared to have suffered major head and facial injuries.
The station wagon’s hood was impacted and its windshield was shattered. The driver was not injured.
No charges were filed at this time.
