♦ Jacky S. Kong, 59, of Chicago and Timothy  Cheung, 54 of San Francisco, were busted with 63 lbs. of high-grade pot by members of both the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office Aggressive Criminal Enforcement Team and the Davie County Sheriff’s Office on Southbound I-85.  The drug seizure was valued at $250,000.  The stop was made Tuesday afternoon at I-85’s 76 mile marker.

Kong and Cheung were originally pulled over for a speed violation and were soon charged with drug trafficking.  Each man was charged with one count trafficking marijuana by possession, one count of trafficking marijuana by transporting, one count of trafficking marijuana by manufacturing, one count of possession with intent to sell and deliver and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Kong lives on  the 2900 block of South Haynes Court, Chicago, Illinois.  Cheung dwells on the 30 block of Hale Street, San Francisco, California.

Kong, who was driving, gave the deputies consent to search a 2013 Toyota mini-van registered in New York.  Two large boxes, containing dryer sheets, meant to mask marijuana’s strong odor, were covering some 63 lbs. of high-grade pot. wrapped in individual large plastic bags.

Kong and Cheung remain in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $550,000 secured bond.  Both are scheduled for their initial court appearance today.
