♦ As mentioned earlier this morning the Rowan County commissioners will go forward with an appeal of yesterday’s decision by Salisbury’s City Council to deny a special-use permit for government services at the West End Plaza.
During Monday’s closed-session at the county commission meeting County Attorney Jay Dees was instructed by the commissioners to file an appeal in superior court in the form of a writ of certiorari to petition for the court to hear the matter if city council denied the special-use permit. The county attorney has 30 days to file an appeal from the date of yesterday’s special-use permit’s refusal.
Yesterday Craig Pierce alluded to county attorney Jay Dees noting several large “misapplications of standards” employed by city council in its findings. Difficulties occurred in the areas of zoning and whether a special-use permit for government uses was appropriate to the West End Plaza’s location.
