School Board Meets Monday at N. Ellis Street. Extracurricular Clubs and Central Office Contracts up for Discussion

♦ The Rowan-Salisbury School Board will meet Monday for a work session at the Ellis Street Administration Offices at 4 p.m. at 3214 N. Ellis Street in Salisbury, N.C.

Monday’s meeting will focus on high school extracurricular clubs, contracts for the Central Office, and the school system’s updates on it’s changing “strategic plan”. Other topics will include a progress report on the school system’s website.

Anthony Vann, the Assistant Superintendent of Operations, will present contracts for the Central Office’s architect and construction manager-at-risk.  According to school system sources the architecture contract with Ramsay, Burgin, and Smith had to be modified in order to meet changes due to the school board’s use of a construction manager-at-risk and adapt those plans to the 504 N. Main Street property.

There will be a discussion of the anticipated performance scores for each school in the district. The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction will release the official scores on February 5th.

Of interest to many in the county will be a discussion about the school system’s high school extracurricular clubs. parental permission slips, club lists, and permissions granted for each high school will be part of this conversation.

Other topics on Monday’s roster of discussions: Teacher recruitment, background checks for volunteers, a bullying awareness proclamation, and emergency epinephrine availability.
