♦ There are eight choices for the County Commission! Usually the Republican candidates are the conservatives, but that is not the case in this election. Each of the Republicans has flaws that disqualify them for my vote. They are either liberal or wishy-washy. Neither of the Democrats meet my approval either. However we do have three unaffiliated candidates. One of them is just right for me. Chris Cohen meets my qualifications of being a conservative who is frugal in wisely spending our tax money. Chris Cohen knows about running his own business and meeting a payroll. Chris Cohen has one big advantage that neither of the other two unaffiliated candidates has. He is NOT a long time government bureaucrat like the other two are. Chris Cohen earned my vote for County Commissioner. My other two Commissioner votes? No one else deserved my vote, so I single-shot voted for only Chris Cohen.
In the 2012 election, we started replacing the old School Board with three fresh, new faces. We need to continue to do that in this election. Several of the old School Board members seem like they have been there forever! If they could have gotten the job done, it would have happened by now. Travis Allen, Dean Hunter and Phil Hardin are three men who would bring fresh ideas and vitality to the School Board. I have talked with all three of them on multiple occasions and like what I hear from them. At the School Board meeting concerning voluntary bible classes in our schools, Dean Hunter, Phil Hardin, and Travis Allen all spoke very convincingly about keeping bible classes in our schools. I will NOT vote for any of the four incumbents on our School Board. Please consider Phil Hardin, Travis Allen, and Dean Hunter as we continue to rebuild our School Board with new faces and fresh ideas. They will all put education of our students as the first priority.
