♦ Control of the Rowan-Salisbury School Board changed hands last evening as Travis Allen and Dean Hunter joined Chuck Hughes and Josh Wagner in a new majority. Incumbents Kay Wright Norman and L.A. Overcash lost in their bids. Richard Miller will join Susan Cox and Jean Kennedy as the only remaining incumbents. A major change in the school board’s direction is expected–very likely more transparency and a more conservative perspective.
The incumbents leads started to diminish somewhere at the halfway point. From then on the challengers took over.
Allen and Hunter had strong support in the county. Their wins were not unexpected.
Richard Miller will likely relinquish his Chairmanship when the new board is seated.
