♦ Look Salisbury, N.C. is not the city it once was. In fact it is a far cry from what it was a decade ago. The city has fallen on hard times and all neighborhoods report spiraling out-of-control crime. Hardly a day goes by without a robbery, a break-in, a gang payback, a street assault, –and all too frequently a killing. It’s only November and the murder rate here has almosty doubled over last year. Salisbury is a dangerous place where anyone can suddenly be pulled into a dark and fearsome situation. Especially now with holiday shopping season about to begin. Criminals are everywhere–and crime traditionally spikes during the shopping season.
Don’t let anyone tell you different–the police in this town are undermanned. They don’t have nearly enough seasoned patrolmen out there to give proper 24-7 coverage anywhere in the city. I’m not knocking the police–but they have lost a lot of personnel over the last few years to other law enforcement agencies. Other cities pay better and they often don’t have the per capita violent crime rate that Salisbury has to deal with.
So if you come to Salisbury, come alert and come armed and you stand a better chance dealing with some bad news types checking out your holiday cash. It can happen fast–three or four can come up on you. “Turn it loose or I’ll blow your head off.”
There’s a lot of young heads who want smack or meth money. They will come up on you any hour of the day. They are not playing–you mean nothing to them. They’ll cap you in a heartbeat.
My advice if you come to Salisbury is come with some heat and be prepared to use it if someone gets confrontational with you.
A word to the wise: take a concealed carry class and get that permit to conceal carry. That gives you a chance.
All the street stuff can be over in a minute.
Be alert and be armed. The hoodlums are. They are out there in force this time of year.
