♦ With the city in major financial trouble and the wolf pounding wildly at the door, would the City of Salisbury be willing to pull an overnight “Recue 8″ to replenish its coffers by taking in nuclear waste?
Let’s face it all across North Carolina there’s a need to unload tons of nuclear waste and Salisbury would be a perfect fit.
Several city managers ago, a Salisbury city manager approached city council with the idea of taking in another municipality’s nuclear waste. That proposal never made it to first base. Then isn’t now. The city has many choice areas where a nuclear waste disposal site might be a perfect fit. Airport Road. The Arts district already brimming with toxic waste areas. Perhaps out near the Crescent Golf Course?
We don’t think it’s a good idea. Ever.
