2014 was quite an impactful year in Salisbury, N.C.’s newsmaking. Among this year’s superstars in generating name recognition for Salisbury, N.C. around the globe and across the United States was convicted terrorist, ISIS disciple, and Founder of the Islamic Center of Salisbury, N.C.: Donald Ray Morgan. Salisbury’s own Donald Ray “Jihad Joe” Morgan appeared on network television news for weeks and became a worldwide name, dragging Salisbury along for the ride.
Another massive bomb crater in the news was Pazuzu Algarad, an allegedly psychotic serial killer and white cannibal, charged with murdering Salisbury’s Joshua Wetzler and depositing him in a shallow grave behind a horror house in Stanly County.
Finally landing among the big three for 2014 has to be the “mutually terminated” Salisbury City Manager Doug Paris who’s abrupt ending left a lot of questions dangling over city hall.
