♦ “Crips” gang member Cameron Jamar Neely, 27, was arrested Thursday in the China Grove area of Rowan County by a joint federal, state, and local law enforcement taskforce on firearms charges.
The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office learned in October that Neely, an identified “Crip” with multiple felony convictions, was residing at 780 Corriher Gravel Rd., possessed and was selling firearms and extended capacity magazines.
On Thursday December 18th Rowan County Sheriff’s Office deputies with the assistance of a joint task force executed a search warrant of Neely’s Corriher Gravel Rd. residence prior to arresting Neely in a traffic stop on US Highway 29. At Neely’s residence law enforcement found a .45 handgun, magazines, a variety of ammunition, and bags of fake “crack” cocaine.
Neely was charged with 4 counts of a felon in possession of a firearm, one count of possession of a weapon of mass destruction, one count of transportation of a weapon of mass destruction, and one count of selling a weapon of mass destruction. Neely is under a $500,000 secured bond and is in the Rowan County Detention Center.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI), United States Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), United States Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), High Point Police Department, and the Salisbury Police Department, started conducting surveillance of Neely and determined that he was in possession of firearms on October 22, 2014, October 30, 2014, and December 4, 2014.
Neely possesses previous felony convictions in Rowan and Davidson Counties for assault with intent to kill, assault inflicting serious injury, common law robbery, and larceny.
