♦  Saturday afternoon one of the Rowan Free Press staff unearthed a pamphlet written back in early 2011 about the history of the City of Salisbury’s greatest misadventure: “The Fibrant Debacle”,  This pamphlet was the very first PDF.s on “Anti-Fibrant.com”.  The words of our truly visionary Editor are as true then as they are now.

His eminence, with much reluctance on his part, granted us permission to repost:”The Fibrant Debacle” on the eve of the upcoming Moody’s downgrading of Salisbury’s bond rating to junk bond status owing to their failure to pay back $7.6 million dollars to the city’s water and sewer funds.  Whether its writing about solutions to poverty, homegrown economic development through cooperatives, the city’s dangerous outflow of its understaffed police department, Salisbury’s covert “shrinking” and “gentrification” tactics, its vacancy strewn Downtown with a ludicrous Complete Streets program designed to run off traffic from the city’s  successful chain retail and restaurant tax base or its madcap attempts to rescue a rotting flophouse mercifully closed to the public since 1963, our Editor always nails it.  Here is the “Fibrant Debacle”:
