♦ The Rowan County Board of Commissioners will conduct a special meeting Monday, January 26th at noon. The meeting will take place in the J. Newton Cohen, Sr. Room at the County Administration Building, located at 130 West Innes St. in Salisbury, N.C.
The special meeting’s purpose will be for the board to consider approval for a contract with Blue Ridge Environmental Consultants (BREC) for professional services for the Gildan Yarns Project on Heilig Road. Discussion will focus on yet to be approved contract worth $168,000 with BREC to engineer a roadway and waterline to the Gildan facility.
In April of last year the commissioners voted to negotiate a contract with BREC, but never approved it. Monday’s special meeting will settle the issue.
The commissioners will also hold a closed session in accordance with North Carolina General Statute § 143-318.11(a)(4) to discuss economic development matters.
