♦ Raleigh–Senator Tom McInnis is co-sponsoring Senate Bill 74 with Senator Brent Jackson as the primary sponsor.
Senate Bill 74 will help protect citizens against eminent domain. The bill only allows private property to be taken by the state for public use and not for public benefit. The private party must be given just compensation. If the private party chooses, the compensation may be determined by a jury.
Senator Tom McInnis states, “I am proud to co-sponsor this bill that protects the private property rights of every North Carolina citizen. This Bill if enacted into law will make sure that private property can only be taken for public use being established by a trial by jury.”
