♦ Starting in July, Rowan-Salisbury school system students will pay a $65 fee for driver’s education. The Board of Education voted 7 to 0 to activate the fee. Each school district, according to North Carolina law, must provide driver education. This year the General Assembly cut funding for driver’s education from the budget. Driver’s education costs the school district $319,000 annually plus the costs of replacing vehicles when required.
• The School Board voted 4 to 3 to discontinue the services of its current Attorney Don Sayers effective April 1st and voted to accept and post a job description for a board attorney. The school board will review applications and interview applicants.
• The Board will name the boardroom of the Wallace Educational Forum after Julian Robertson whose philanthropy greatly assisted the future Central Office at 504 N. Main.
