♦ This afternoon at about 3:30 p.m. a silver Cadillac SUV lost control and jumped the curb, crashing into the front of Innes Street Drugs on South Main St. in Downtown Salisbury, N.C.
It wasn’t long before a small crowd gathered around the front of the drugstore and news helicopters swarmed the skies overhead, making a thrumming sound that heard allover Salisbury. The SUV was piloted by Mary Archie, 61, of Salisbury, rammed an estimated 40 feet into the drugstore doing extensive damage to the displays and pinning Terry Cuthbertson, 47, between the display shelving and the vehicle. Persons at the scene believed the SUV accelerated when it should’ve employed the brakes.
Cutherbertson was transported to Carolinas Medical Center. Her condition is not yet known, but witnesses described her as stunned and in pain.
Archie and her two SUV passengers were uninjured, but were shaken by the accident.
The front of the Drugstore was completely mangled, scattering glass and building materials on the pavement and into the drugstore’s interior.
It appears Innes Street Drugs will be out of commission for quite sometime. No damage assessment has been completed.
At this time no charges were filed.
