♦ An economics professor once said he had never failed a single student, but that he had failed an entire class.
The class insisted that socialism was a great equalizer because under it, no one would be poor and no one would be rich. The professor said “Okay, we’ll have an experiment using socialism. All tests will be averaged so everyone will receive the same grade. If socialism works, no one will fail and no one will receive an A and everyone will be happy and content.
After the first test the grade were averaged and everyone received a B. The students who studied hard were a little disappointed while the students who studied little were happy. When the second test rolled around, the students who studied little had now studied even less while the students who had studied hard also studied less after deciding that they wanted a free ride. The second test average was a D. Grumbling began and discontentment raised its head.
The class average of the third test was F. Needless to say, everyone failed and no one was happy.
Much like today, instead of working together to raise their scores, the initial low scorers blamed those who had initially earned high grades for not doing their fair share i.e. not studying hard enough to keep the average up.
The reality is that the harder it is to succeed, the greater the reward, but when government takes all the rewards away, no one will even try to succeed. This, my friends, is the abyss of socialism and, as history has shown, the ultimate outcome of all socialistic states.
