♦ On Thursday the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office in tandem with the N.C. SBI shut down a major meth lab at 2675 Lower Stone Church Road in the Rockwell area. Arrested in the raid were David Shane Reid, 44, of 2675 Lower Stone Church Road and James Avery Price, 27, of Wallace, South Carolina. Their alleged operation was described a “one pot shake and bake lab,” with highly explosive precursor chemicals a threat to the “chemists”, the neighbors, and law enforcement hauling away the lab.
The Sheriff’s Office investigators and the SBI were assisted in this operation by the Rockwell Fire department and medics from the Rowan EMS.
Informants tipped off law enforcement that Reid and Price were regularly cooking meth at the residence for the past 60 days.
Reid was charged with manufacture of meth, 3 counts of three counts of possess immediate precursors; possess with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver methamphetamine; conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine; and maintaining a dwelling to keep or sell controlled substances. Under a $500,000 secured bond, Reid is in the Rowan County Detention Center.
Price is charged with manufacture meth, 3 counts of possessing immediate precursors, possessing with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver meth, and conspiracy to manufacture meth. Held under a $250,000 secured bond, Price is in the Rowan County Detention Center.

Price previous South Carolina criminal record includes two convictions for second degree burglary (felony), and manufacture/possess with intent to distribute illegal drugs (felony).
