♦ Gina Marie Weiand-Hotard, 48, of Airport Road in Salisbury allegedly employed her debit card to run up purchases at Walmart and Smart Style and then blamed it on her former boyfriend so she could get cash back from the bank. Weiand-Hotard alerted the Sheriff’s Department that her former boyfriend ripped off her debit card and made a number of unauthorized purchases with it. Weiand-Hotard however was caught on a Walmart surveillance cam using the card.
All told Weiand-Hotard is alleged to have made 5 purchases before attributing them to her ex-beau and receiving refunds from the bank in the vicinity of $370.00. 4 purchases occurred on March 31st and the last on April 2nd.
Weiand-Hotard was arrested on May 3rd and was charged with 5 counts of obtaining property under false pretenses (felony) and a single count of a false police radio broadcasting report (misdemeanor).
Placed under a $15,000 secured bond, Weiand-Hotard is currently in the Rowan County Detention Center.
