♦ It was sad to learn The Bible Book Store, on 314 South Main in struggling Downtown Salisbury, closed its doors forever in recent days.  Salisbury’s last Christian Store, stocking Christian books, gifts, and music, appeared to be floundering for the last year with the lack of vehicular and pedestrian traffic on ghostly South Main.  The once popular Bible Book Store had to be battling not only a lack of area traffic, but the reality that most shoppers are making discount purchases on the internet and in brick and mortar big box chain stores.  The face of shopping has changed dramatically over the past 6 years.

“The Bible Book Store has CLOSED permanently due to circumstances beyond our control and financial difficulties. While the suddenness was not foreseen, our business environment has been challenging for a long time.

In addition to other debts, we owe a huge amount of thanks to:
– Our dedicated employees who worked for low pay and few benefits because they shared the vision of providing Godly, Bible-centered, inspirational products to…
– Our wonderful customers who blessed us with your patronage, love, and loyalty in these days of Internet and “big box” discount shopping.
– The Lord who loves us. It has been our constant goal to honor Him because of what He has done for and means to us. We apologize to the degree we fell short.

We covet your prayers for wisdom as we seek to liquidate stock and fixtures and, most of all, pay off some significant debts. We are committed to the latter, but we don’t yet know the way. We trust Him who guides us with His eye (Psalm 32:8).”
