♦ A man, identified this morning as Vernon D. Wiggins, 54, of Magnolia Drive in Salisbury, was sitting on the tracks, when he was struck and killed by a northbound Norfolk Southern freight train. The incident happened just before 9 P.M. Sunday night between the Transportation Museum and Torbush Street in East Spencer. The 30-car freight train sounded it train horn several times before hitting the man. Mr. Wiggins was pronounced dead at the scene.
