♦ First U.K. “Slide the City” Called an Absolute Disaster:
Quote from Youtube post: (rings = tubes)
“Well that was a huge waste of time and money. Extremely disappointed. Everyone save your money for future UK events and do not bother, this is what you will get for your money.
Key issues were:
• Slide itself was not steep enough to actually slide
• Too few staff
• Staff had no idea what they were doing
• Poor organisation overall (not enough rings, no system for recycling rings, no one in charge)
• No atmosphere (no music, miserable staff, no one getting you excited in the queue ‘are you ready to sliiiide)
The slide rules say ‘no stopping, no running, no standing on the slide’ oh if ONLY you could have actually been sliding without stopping.
Complete breaches of health and safety, staff seen pouring baby oil onto it to try and make it work, people getting injured.
At one point when they totally run our of rings for people to slide on they suggested you could go down without a ring. Um, no thanks! Rules also say absolutely everyone must ride on a ring….
I see they say the slide had to be gentle for kids. That is total rubbish, it was kids who struggled the most actually getting to slide as little kids weren’t coordinated to run and chuck yourself down on the ring to get a few meters of sliding In before repeating that process over and over.
They have released a statement completely rejecting all responsibility and blaming the 1000’s of complaintants for not enjoying themselves and refusing refunds.
Please get onto press, watchdog, HSE executive and anyone else who can help the case as they are basically robbing everyone and this event was not cheap!”
