♦ Since we posted the article: “William Henry Smith of Salisbury, N.C. Area Allegedly Turns Caveman Beating a Man with a Shovel Handle and Robbing Him” on Friday some new facts have come to light in this case. Those facts concern that William Henry Smith, the man charged with violent assault with a “shorty” shovel handle, robbery, and kidnapping, had no criminal record and his alleged victim has a lengthy criminal record Florida, Kansas, and a pending felony charge in Cabarrus County. Our staff found out Saturday that Jonathan Junior Edmisten was 57 years-old and born on 12-04-1958 which matched him up with criminal records in 3 states. Further we’ve learned that William Henry Smith is well regarded by his neighbors. The original article:
The alleged “victim” is Jonathan Junior Edmisten, born 12-04-1958. His aliases are: “John-John” Edmisten according to the Florida Department of Corrections. More intriguing aliases he has been known by, according to Kansas Department of Corrections, include John J. Edmans, and David Dodd. This prompted a “staff research” venture, to see why the victim would have utilized so many aliases. This is what was found:
He spent a year in prison in Florida for credit card fraud (2002-2003):
