♦ Rennell Jeffrey Parson, Jr., of the 900 block of Holmes Street in Salisbury, is in trouble with the law again after being pulled over for a traffic stop at MLK Avenue and Bringle Ferry Road.  A Salisbury Police officer detected the strong odor of pot coming from Parson’s partly rolled down window.  He asked Parson to roll his window down further.  Soon a K-9 dog entered the car and began  a search while Parson appeared nervous and fidgety.  The K-9 located something and alerted his handler.

With the dog present,Parson attempted to reach beneath his seat 3 times before the officers ordered him to display his hands.  Parson told the officers he had a gram of marijuana before he was told to step out of the vehicle.

Parson’s hands began to move down toward his hips.  Right away he drew a warning he would be tazed if he did not display his hands.  He didn’t and got tazed enough to tumble out of the vehicle.

The police hauled him to his feet and searched him, finding nothing.  However a search of the car turned up a 9 mm semi-automatic secreted beneath a grocery bag.  Bad luck for Parson.  The pistol was stolen.

Parson was arrested and charged with possession of stolen goods (felony), possession of a firearm by a felon, (felony), resist/obstruct/delay of an officer (misdemeanor), and possession of a controlled schedule IV (misdemeanor).

Issued a $25,000 secured bond, Parson was in the Rowan County Detention before he was released on bail.
