♦ Chadwick Jerome Pearson, 16, apparently from the “bad side” of Kannapolis, let it all hang out early Friday night in Landis, N.C. as he allegedly battled Landis Police officers and Rowan County Sheriff’s Office deputies in an alleged drunken melee in Landis.
Law enforcement reported Pearson, said to be extremely intoxicated, allegedly spat on officer, cussed, forearm shivered an officer in the groin, and kicked another in the inner thigh. During the battle, Pearson allegedly broke away and ducked beneath a house deck where he threatened to take an officer’s gun and blow his brains out. His cursing allegedly grew louder before he surrendered and was handcuffed.
Officers found a rubber glove stuffed with “pot” on Pearson after a pat down.
Pearson was charged with 2 counts of communicating threats (misdemeanor), malicious conduct by a prisoner (misdemeanor), assault on a government official (misdemeanor), resist/delay/obstruct a public official (misdemeanor), intoxicated and disruptive (misdemeanor), underage consumption (misdemeanor), possession of drug paraphernalia (misdemeanor), possession of controlled substance on a penal institution premises (felony), and possession of a schedule VI controlled substance. (misdemeanor).
Under a secured $20,000 bond, Pearson remains in the Rowan County Detention Center.
In a previous brush with the law in Mecklenburg County, Pearson was charged with conspiracy (felony), common law robbery (felony), and injury to real property (misdemeanor).
