♦Late this afternoon I reached Commission Chairman Jim Sides on the phone.
“Steve, he said. “Today its official–all the papers are signed, sealed, and delivered. We own the Mall”
“Will the Mall be your legacy…besides predicting your earthly departure in office?”
“I hope the Mall will be one of many. Got a few more up my sleeve.”
“There’s a rumor going around I’d like to put to rest. Is there any truth to the story that the “Todd Paris Justice Center” will occupy the Belk’s Building?”
“At the moment nothing is off the table.”
There was a silent pause before I heard what sounded like an elf tap dancing and shrill twangy laughter.
“Well if Todd wants to set up shop out there we might be able to fix him up with an empty theater.”
