♦ A program will be presented by Keith Jones on “McGowan’s Brigade at Gettysburg and the 50th Reunion.” in the Stanback Room of the Rowan Public Library on Wednesday, November 9th at 6:30 p.m. in Salisbury. Mr. Jones will trace the actions of Gen. Samuel McGowan’s SC Brigade from Pender’s Division on July 1st, 1863. He will relate the experiences of one of the SC’s veterans at the 50th Reunion at Gettysburg on July 1913. The stories come from his latest book “Echoes from Gettysburg: South Carolina’s Memories and Images”. Mr. Jones has won awards for 3 books and was a 2012 Gold Medal winner for history by The Military Writers Society of America.
