♦ According to Salisbury Police sources Sharod Raheen Mathis, 22, of 255 Long Bow Road in Salisbury, was the victim of a criminal homicide early this morning. He was shot outside in the parking lot at the Firewater Lounge on 122 S. Avalon Drive. Mr. Mathis was transported by a private vehicle to Novant Health Rowan Medical Center where he expired.
122 S. Avalon is a very active crime scene and people are urged to stay away from the area.

A 911 dispatch went out at 1:37 a.m. and the Salisbury Police, Rowan County Sheriff’s Office, and emergency responders arrived soon afterwards. Later in the morning an unidentified 7 year-old girl was killed in a related shooting into a home at 200 Harrel Street. The child died at the scene. The child’s grandmother, 56, was shot in the leg. According to people in the area the second shooting was an alleged vengeance shooting for what happened outside the Firewater Lounge.
