♦ According to sources in the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office Jahari Shaheed Rustin, 20, 2113 E. Innes St. in Salisbury and Jai Wontreal Winchester, 21, of 1607 Lakewood Drive in Salisbury were arrested for the alleged murder of Christopher Todd Rumple, 48, of 504 Carter Street in Kannapolis, N.C. Deputies found Rumple laying in the street near his home after a neighbor called 911 dispatch and told them his neighbor was shot. Rumple was pronounced dead at scene. Rumple was at one time a major heroin dealer in the area.

Rustin and Winchester were stopped by the Kannapolis Police on I-85 near Webb Road driving a vehicle that fit the description of the shooter. A handgun was found in the vehicle and both men were arrested.
Both Rustin and Winchester were charged with murder (non-specific) (felony). Both men are being held without bond in the Rowan County Detention Center.
