♦ Salisbury, N.C., a criminal vortex where drug dealers from other counties and states can evade the heat, and criminals and sexual preditors on the lam can blend in and largely go unnoticed. Unless they are pulled over for traffic infractions or erratic behavior. This past holiday weekend may have ended criminal streaks for several bad actors.
Sources in the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office report that Mark Anthony Whitley, 52, of 21039 Bear Creek Church Road in New London, N.C. was pulled over by a Sheriff’s Office deputy near the intersection of U.S. Hwy 601 and W. Jake Alexander Blvd. where a search allegedly turned up illegal drugs and paraphernalia. Whitley surrendered and was handcuffed without incident.
