♦ Rowan County Sheriff’s Office sources report that deputies and EMS were called to a home at 180 Apex Lane near Foster Road North of Cleveland at 3:47 a.m. where a fight and a stabbing were reported. Shields was found in the backyard. The incident was originally called a criminal homicide–murder. The investigation centered on the stabbing death of Altereck Rashad Shields, 36, of 1005 S. Church Street, Salisbury, N.C.
Later in the morning Jermail Blake, 36, of 1025 Grady Street in Salisbury, was arrested at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center on 612 Mocksville road and charged with voluntary manslaughter (felony) in the stabbing death of Altereck Rashad Shields, 36, of 1005 South Church Street, Salisbury, N.C.
Blake sustained injuries during his fight with Shields. Blake’s condition has not been released.
Under a secured $250,000 bond, Blake is being held in the Rowan County Detention Center.
