♦ The wolves smell lamb and nobody is watching the pens in Salisbury. Word is out in the streets. The breaking and entry set sees a clear path to instant money. All you need is a brick or a rock or hammer and know where the cash registers and safes are. Generally you have 10 to 15 minutes to “do the do” and scra-zam.
Salisbury Police sources inform us that Dunkin’ Donuts on 715 West Jake Alexander Boulevard was the victim of a burglary–forcible entry. 911 dispatch received a call at 4:25 a.m. that the Salisbury coffee and donut retailer got some unwanted visitors well before opening. A rock, brick, or some other blunt object was used to break through a window and gain entry. Then out came four cash register drawers with their $450 cash payload. The burglars swiftly blended into the early morning darkness. Maybe they’d come back later for some coffee and crullers? More likely the money would be invested in smack.
Between the stolen cash, a broken window, and stolen cash register drawers, the estimated loss for Dunkin Donuts was $1,250.
At this time no suspects were named. The burglary remains under investigation.
