♦ Many of us are aware if we live in Salisbury and Rowan County we encounter a fair number of naturally occurring toxic substances and gases. More recently we learned that hexavalent chromium, a carcinogen naturally present in the water table in the Piedmont Plateau and in Salisbury and Rowan County. Homeowners in our area are urged to test for RADON gas a potent carcinogen frequently found in basements and the lower floors of homes and businesses.
The North Carolina Radon Program, a consortium of the North Carolina Radiation Protection Section, the NC Division of Health Service Regulation, and the NC Department of Health and Human Services, provide a valuable information resource NCRadon.Org. Learn about regions in North Carolina especially susceptible to RADON gas intrusion, testing, abatement, and even testing assistance for folks living below the poverty margin.
