RFP Staff
♦ At yesterday’s Rowan County Commissioner’s Meeting the Rowan County Commissioners voted unanimously to approve the consent agenda that included approving a contract with Windstream over Fibrant and Spirit for the county’s high-speed backup provider (redundancy).
The county tech staff recommended Windstream over Fibrant and Spirit for backup services. The bids submitted showed that Windstream outbid Fibrant. Windstream came in at $69,840 for a 3 year period while Fibrant submitted $87,480 for 3 years and was out of the running. Only last spring Salisbury’s Fibrant fiasco was turned down the Rowan-Salisbury School System because they priced themselves out of the bidding process and demonstrated once again why the city’s municipal fiber optic can’t compete with heavyweights.
