♦ In recent years Salisbury, N.C. has been labeled a dangerous “criminal vortex” attracting fugitives from justice from all over North Carolina and other states. If criminals avoid attention by avoiding traffic infractions and keeping miscreant behavior out-of-sight, they can skate through Salisbury unscathed. The town is a 5 star hideout where killers, bank robbers, and sex criminals can fade from the screen. The local police department has few officers and the city has lots of cheap rentals and abandoned hovels, a large pre-existing criminal underworld, gangs, and the N.C.’s largest homeless shelter where they don’t do background checks. Salisbury is indeed the place.
On Monday afternoon 3 fugitives from justice were arrested by Rowan County Sheriff’s office deputies on fugitive warrants at 115 N. Church Street in Downtown Salisbury. Arrested were Christian Sidney Griffin, 21, of Jamaica, NY, Ansel Harry Knight, 29, of Valley Stream, N.Y. and Chauncey Lewis, 18, of Hollis, N.Y. Many of our readers will recall their names and mugshots from their alleged robbery of a T-Mobile store on 1215 E. Innes Street and a standoff at a nearby Hampton Inn on September 26th 2016. The trio is facing armed robbery and kidnapping charges in Delaware. The three men are expected to be extradited to that state.
