♦ Sources in the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office report that Derryck Laine Kesler, 29, from Salisbury, was a victim of a robbery–knife and an assault–other dangerous weapon on Sunday in a home on the 400 block of Troutman Road. Kesler allegedly was robbed of an HTC Sense cellphone worth $100. The crime was reported to 911 dispatch at 6:41 a.m. Kesler sustained minor injuries from a blunt object at the hands of an acquaintance before parting with his cellphone.

The robbery remains under investigation.

♦ According Rowan County Sheriff’s Office sources Mateo Campos-Garcia, 44, was arrested Wednesday at 9:43 a.m. at 4445 Jack Brown Road in Salisbury allegedly for indecent liberties with children and sexual offense (first degree). It was reported that Campos-Garcia was linked by Rowan County Sheriff’s Office detectives to another sexual offense occurring back in 2011. The cases are alleged to involve more than one child victim, said to be under 15 years-old.
Since Wednesday additional charges were made. At this time Campos-Garcia is currently charged with 3 counts of indecent liberties with children (felony) and 3 counts of sexual offense (first degree) (felony). Under a secured $90,000 bond, he is being held in the Rowan County Detention Center.
