♦ With the continued breakdown of law and order in Salisbury and the advance of warmer weather, the local criminal element is becoming more adventuresome. Monday a “Safety Taxi” was ripped off the lot at Speedway on E. Innes Street and Rushco was forcibly entered for a measly $12. If you own a business in Salisbury, count major crime as part of your overhead.

Salisbury Police sources reported the Rushco convenience store on 2004 Statesville Boulevard was the victim of a burglary–forcible entry today at 12:47 a.m. The store had one of its front windows smashed with a blunt object (possibly a rock). With the alarm triggered, the burglar(s) worked hastily stealing coins valued at $12 and a cash register drawer valued at $300. Damage to the windows amounted to $500. We do not know of any product being stolen.
